There are some other points involved in the decision for most people, though. One being the harm on the environment, because the majority of treated wood, is treated with CCA, chrome, copper and arsenic, and arsenic being known to cause grave health side effects. If you are a handy kind of guy, then you will end up with CCA in your lungs after sawing, and if your children will be touching it then they will have it on them too. And, don't even think about growing food on your garden arbor that's has been treated with CCA. In the treating process, these chemicals are added to the timber, often, when it still has very high moisture. This plays a part in the cheap price, because you don't have to dry it, but it also might lead to some cons in your outdoor structures like gazebos. Improperly dried wood will change in shape considerably when dried, which can lead to bowing, warping and cracking in your garden structure. Having said that, treated wood is currently satisfying many folks out there that have built their decks and garden using this as their choice.
